When you’re feeling depressed, it can be difficult having the strength to get out of bed in the morning. I’ve been there. So if you find yourself without the desire to tackle your daily routine, consider the following tips to get you out of that funk:

SIT UP | Sitting up can make you feel better than lying down. It helps to uncloud your mind and make you more alert.

EAT A MEAL | You’re going to feel worse if you don’t eat. And it’s harder to think when you’re hungry. Even if you’re not up to cooking, having something simple like a bowl of cereal or oatmeal will make you feel better.

CALL A FRIEND | It’s normal to feel depressed on a bad day, but it doesn’t mean you have to be alone. Call or text a close friend or family member and strike up a conversation about whatever is going on in life.

WATCH AN OLD SHOW | Some days you just need to chill and watch something comforting. And there’s nothing more refreshing than watching reruns of a favorite familiar show. TV doesn’t always need to make you think so hard or worry so much. Sometimes, it’s just to make you happy

PLAN A TRIP | It’s a great time to plan a trip that you can be excited about. Think about a vacation you would like to take. Check out some hotels, restaurants, and activities in the area.

LISTEN TO MUSIC | Music is a great pick me up. Make a playlist of your favorite songs or find new ones that you enjoy.

It might not be today, or tomorrow, but eventually you will begin to feel better. It might take time, but eventually, your mood will pick up!
